Two things have appened to me, one yesterday and one just now.
Yesterday I was helping to clear out my grandparents place (as they both passed away about Christmas time and we've just sold the house) so we were mostly moving the furniture out and taking anything we wanted and we're going to send the rest off to sell. Well, in this house ther is a passage down the side runnnig straight from the front of the house to the back garden (there is no front garden) and I had to lock the doors. I locked the first one fine and then I locked the back one, and by lock I mean a bolt at the top and a bolt and the bottom and then turn the key.
I was just walking away from the door when it grew light behind me, as though someone had just opened the door (without noise but that only occured to me later) and I thought "They better not have, I just locked that" of course, than I realised that having locked it, it should be able to open, I turned around but there was nothing there, no light or anything, just the passage way (and my shadow which made me jump).
And just now I was playing the piano like I do most mornings and playing the pieces I do most mornings when the littleelectronic metronome I keep on top of the piano falls right onto me fingers! I may have been playing a little vigorously but there's no need to go dropping metronomes on my hands! So I shouted at it and climbed out of the room (it's very hard to get in and out of any room because of junk as we've got lots of stuff from granny and grandad's house).
There, what do you think of that?

What else am I to think ? Ghosts ! To be precise - a spirit at the first case and a poltergheist at the second one . The first one , I do not get fully - did the door open or did they not ? Was there only the light with the doors being closed ? And did any of your grandparents use the passage often or was it special for them or anything of that sort ? And the other one - poltergheist (a german word - polter-sound , noisy , ghaist - ghost) . Maybe it was just leting you know of its presence . Mostly these ghosts throw things , make them wanish and re-apear at another place , make noises . Ususally the agressive type throw and whack and physically efect people , but still not 100% at every case like that it is the agressive type . Sometimes to non agressive ones just want to have fun . Or as I said , wish to let you know of their presence . Though there might be a story under the piano itself . Or you really are that bad at playing it ? ;D ;D ;D Oph

No, the door didn't actually open, it just seemed like it had. The passage was mainly used for storing things, grandad used to use it for his bike before he got too old to cycle. But that's it. The door into the garden was never closed while they were alive though.
I asked dad about the piano and he said it was my great grandmother's and is 100 years old or so. I must admit, I had been playing that piece of music a lot. Perhaps someone was getting tired of it.

Mhm ... Maybe somebody wasn`t used to the door being shut ? Just couldn`t let go ? How about that ? The piano IS old Many things could have hapened by that time . But who knows , who knows ..... I don`t , for sure ;D Ophenator ("I`ll be back ... ") ;D ;D ;D ;D

Okay, here comes smt real. My grandad once told me about two guys that made a bet. It was a very simple bet... place two flowers on the last tomb in the town's graveyard at midnight. The bolder one accepted. At midnight, they were in the graveyard. Hands on flowers and eyes on watch. When it hit the deepest hour the bolder one went to place the stone. The other one followed him. When the first one kneeled at the tomb, he placed the flower and when he tried to get up he couldn't... he screamed... and died. The other one screamed as well and sprinted his way out. The next day, the police had found out that the dead guy's dagger sheet (you know, the glove for the dagger, I don't know if I had spelled it right) was trapped in some weeds. The dead man probably thought smb grabbed his leg and passed away. Again, this is a flat fact. And it kinda relates to ghost stories. And, btw, have I told you about my long hallway where I used to run as a child (of fear of passing it) til my dad told me:"You think that if you run nobody catches you?". After that I didn't run anymore.

How evil from your dad But to tell you the truth , the story sounds a lot like the story of Black Aggie . Though it was the memorial statue`s , called Blac Aggie , which stands in a cemetary , fault . But you can read the story at www.prairieghosts.com/druidridge.html . Enjoy .... Ophelia

Is it me, or are American ghosts and stuff generally more violent than everywhere else? Their ghosts always seem to be killing people...

That's true. Then again, at least they're not as pathetic as clasic British ghosts. Then again, the Hound of the Baskervilles was thought to be a ghost, and that was anything but pathetic.

No, I like to think our ghosts have style. Rather than just going "Mwahaha! Die! Die! Die!" in a very boring and generally OTT way that Americans often use.

Yeah. British ghosts take time to create a cunning plan, but then they take too long and get caught by our British geniouses...

As a part of a nation that has no connection to anything American or British (not to talk about politcs and stuff ) I will take my shot in guessing that : *most of the Amreican ghosts have died in a tragic but violent death , mostly suicide from depression of ... loosing someone . As contrary for British ghosts (correct me if I`m wrong and note that I`m not talking of all 100% of cases) - they have died in accidents , wars , duels or just wanted to stay in this life for they loved it too much . *America itself is is more .. sorry but I have to say - more violent as a comunity than British people are . That makes them restless after this life and more violent than British ghosts . But that`s just me Ophelia

I agree with you there. I kinda want to share one of my experiences, if thats okay.
I was staying with my aunt and uncle in rural Pennsylvania and they live in a really really old house. Down the street a woman killed herself, up the street, a man drowned his wife, and a few houses up a man killed his wife and two children. So its kinda freaky. Well i went to bed that night and had one of those dreams where you can actually feel it happening so i woke up and went downstairs to get something to drink. The house is dark and it creaks alot. I was drinking and standing there looking out the window when i hear this voice. I knew my aunt and uncle where asleep and it didnt sound like them anyway. it said something like "Come here Lethea." So i got freaked and turned around. I didnt see anything but it got really cold and it felt like it was touching me on the cheek and shoulder. I dont remember anything else cuz i blacked out. I think it was really cool. I'm into the whole paranormal thing and i totally believe that i had contact with a ghost or spirt. The way she talked, well it had a femine voice, it didnt sound like she was very old..maybe 20. I think it was awesome though.
