I have to say, I read Emma, Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Predudice, and I have to say, (even though it was years ago now, and granted they may be more interesting if I try them now that I'm older and hopefully wiser,) I did find them quite dull, so 'meh'

Just a thought, we're all very bright young people, unless some of you are in fact older than you've been telling us, and if that's the case you have no reason not to post here. I hoping to start an interesting thread on other writers we love besides Tolkien and if possible a little explantaion why. Who knows, maybe it could actually provoke a discussion of some sort.
Ok, I'll just tell you about one just now, but I hope it will get some sort of response or for someone else to tell us about theirs.
My all time best writer, disregarding Tolkien of course, is Anne Rice, as she is one of the very few writers who is able to pull the reader fully into the plot. All of her characters spark off a huge range of emotion, in the one character you can find yourself hating, pitying, loving and admiring within a very short space of time. I think she has a way of creating a world much more enticing, beautiful and horrifying than any other author. Her work is very much darker than anything else I've read, and yet I've learnt a lot from them about art, history and the human soul. In a way they did help me to apperciate beauty more, as this is a focal point. Each of the vampires, without exception I think, was doomed because of their looks, and yet no matter how evil or monstrous they are, they still apperciate the world with all it's flaws, and thier self hate and guilt just makes you love them more. And it's very difficult not to, there's a lot within them to connect and identify with, as strange as that sounds. It is a little strange actually, as you start to think of them as real, possibly just because their emotions are real, if not even stronger. Anne Rice has an amazing talent for being able to put just about anything down on paper, and making it come to life. It's more than love you end up feeling for her characters, it's a certian passion and devotion that you can only understand after you read the books and get to know the characters as intimatly as they know themselves.

Lol, as in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern who everyone forgets cause they weren't huge parts really... if you want to be pedantic, also from Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. (Apologies for misspellings of either name ) hehe

Hmm...you make a very good point there..But I think if I were a half elf, I'd feel less...special's the only word in my head, but that isn't what I mean. I just think there's something wonderfully romantic and tragic about dying of a broken heart.

I like that about the elves, that they seem so sorrowful. And they don't always, I love the idea of big feasts and poetry. So I'd definatly be an elf, I doubt I'd make a good hobbit...but I'd like to live in some beautiful forest. The elves give an impression of great wisdom and knowledge. I'd love to be able to live forever, watching the ages pass, learning from them, just being present. *nances off merrily in an elf like fashion*

Name: (that you go by) Kirsty,(I hate my name! I hate it!) K, Kirvy,Kirvy Irvy, Princess Kirveena (gah, hate that most) sleeping beauty...only when people have to drag me out of bed though....and of course Lossie to you magical people. Age: 17 Country Scotland City: Edinburgh Downs AKA: Lossentilien Goal in life: To get into the film industry and party with all the wonderful film people! Dream job: acting, directing, if it's film, I'm happy. What do you admire: I admire....people who can make good films, people who can jump off Leith pier at 2 in the morning, people who are truly cool without knowing it or trying.....am stuck. What do you care about: Loads of people, film, learning fun stuff, but only when it's fun (which means out of school) Who is the nicest person you met in the last year: Person? Singular? Screw that. Mark, Conner, Nick, Simon, Dougal (although I suspect he ain't as nice as he seems. (I am a pink fairy) directors) Karen, Vez, and I'm sure I've forgotten someone... Do you cary tatoo's or piercings: Yes. Have you even writting anything worth reading. If yes, what?: Don't think so, but I hate everything I write, sometimes other people think it's good, but they may be humouring me... What do you hate: School. I absolutly despise it. How did you come on Imladris: Was on the 'downs version, Council of Elendili, started up the first 'Imladris', then came here when Elentari saved us. Which Tolkien books have you read: In full, LOTR, The Hobbit. And parts from all the others, but not whole things. Will you ever go to the RPG section: No, it scares me What do you like most about people here: They all get along so well, and can be friends, which doesn't happen on the 'downs. Plus we're all mental. What would you like to change about Imladris: Not sure, maybe more people, but then again, I think we've got a nice group going on here. If you would be god for 2 minutes, what would you do: Hmmm.......make sure that I could leave school now, and go off and start my career with the people I met and loved this festival. Famous for: My film stuff. Additional comments:I feel that we should have a 'people you think are hot' catergory. So here we go. Johnny Depp Orlando Bloom Collin Farrel Viggo Mortensen sometimes Justin Timberlake... and many more, but am sleepy.

I'm for getting rid of some old threads, but I think that there should maybe be a goal in mind. Instead of just closing down everything that isn't used, would it not be more interesting for anyone coming back to put more time into thinking up new threads and stuff? If the aim is to get some of the oldies back, and half of the topics they remember aren't there, they might feel less inclined to return. But then I only started posting again the other day, what do you guys think?

I have have a few I can donate, but I have no idea where I stored them all...I had a little dude chasing another guy with an axe. I suspect that one would be much loved. I'm quite excited now, good old Imladris seems to have nine lives.

Bwa ha ha I am still an internet addict. I just have less time than I'd like. I remember lots of other smileys though, like the hammer one. That was used an awful lot.
To my shame I actually thought that Imladris had died, since whenever I happened to vist nothing much had happened. But it seems it's still quite alive. I'll give Nilly a text and tell her to get her ass back online. If I have enough money to text her...she is all the way across the sea...

Woo! Hi. I am still alive, to many people's displeasure. Although I am sad to see there are no custom smileys. I loved them.
