I was just wondering what films people have loved as children, and then seen again a few years later and been really disappointed about. I remember loving 'CutThroat Island' when I was little, and thought Geena Davis was the bravest, wittiest, most beautiful person I'd ever seen, and I wanted to grow up to be a pirate just like her. I saw it just recently however, and my opinion was pretty much reversed. There are a few films I can't even bring myself to watch incase the same thing happens, anyone remember The Goonies? Or Dark Crystal? Legend? Laberinth? All those films I had this huge love for, but can't watch now for the fear that they really weren't as good as I thought years ago.

Lol, have you watched the commentaries? Cause the difference between Gore Verbinski/Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley and Jack Davenport's are funny. The Gore/Johnny one lasts the whole film, and is really interesting, and then you get Keira's, which is almost all -Ooooh, it was hard doing that cause I had high heels, and ooooh, ghostly. Twas rather amusing. And I don't think I can hate her anymore. Silly lil Keira.

What!? That's an outrage! What region are you? Cause if it's the same as here...I could maybe send you a copy...I'm aware this sounds horribly insane, and yes, I am a fool, but it could work...I have a feeling you're in a different region though...New Zealand, is it a 2? Interesting...veeery interesting...

Happy New year back! And I'm sue that we are in fact prettier, just in our own, special ways. Let us assume that we too will someday be lucky, like little miss Knightley. *grumbles*
Have you got the dvd yet? Or is it still not out? Cause I've just been watching the audio commentaries, which are goood. And the blooper reel is funny! There's all this ad lib stuff which is great!

I have just recently found out that Keira Knightley was my age when she started making Pirates. So not only was she in an amazing film, but she was acting alongside two of the hottest men ever. I am so jealous. Me: Stupid Keira Knightley, talented, pretty bitch. Can't believe she was our age and hanging out with Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp. I feel very useless. Our age! And working on a film like Pirates! That would kick ass!!Gigi: I know! Bloody lucky bitch. Oh well, you're prettier than her anyway. *subject moves on to guys and uni* Now that was one way to stop me hating her. Not that I do, I'm just very jealous. Lol. Oh, and it's so not true, am definatly not prettier, twas the thought of the comment that counts.

Shouldn't this be in the movie section? Pirates is a damn good film. Even if Johnny Depp does steal the show, I ain't exactly one to complain. I reckon the stuff I found really amazing was when Sparrow and Barbosa are fighting, but you get flashes of them a skeletons when they're hit by the moonlight. Imagine how much skill and work went into that little scene... Plus you've got one of the snappiest scripts there've been in quite a while, brilliant one liners... And that's no easy tihng to do with pirate movies. I think this was the first one in either aaages, or ever, which was actually sucessful. Although I suppose the cast and the fact that it was obviously not taking itself too seriously were big factors. Great piece of entertainment. It's on my xmas list...

Hmm, worst films. I can usually pick out something good in a film, but with the following, I just spent the whole time wishing it was over.
Withnail and I- do not bother. It has it's funny moments, but other than that, the plot has no direction, and you kinda hate the characters. El Cid- my god it's soo loooooooong. That one where Sarah Michelle Geller's a chef...(Irrisistable??) Deep Blue Sea- I have an irrational fear of sharks....and spiders- Arachnaphobia. *shudder*
Yet more good films- El Mariachi and Desperado, kind of sequal/remakes by Robert Rodriguez, who also did Once Upon A Time In Mexico, which does indeed rock, as stated above. American History X Young Frankenstein Mary Shelly's Frankenstein- (with Kenneth Brannagh) made me cry for aaages. Heathers.

I've had some time to think about this some more, and I realised I'd forgotten the following- The Fifth Element Once Upon A Time In Mexico Bram Stoker's Dracula -I cannot believe that I forgot that! Dogma Run Lola Run Amelie
Movies I don't reccommend- A.I. Resevoir Dogs (I love Tarantino, but I kinda got bored) Dungons and Dragons (I think that's the title) Jealousy is my Middle Name (but it's Korean, so not much chance of it being shown or on dvd) And some French film about a woman who killed her boss...

I reckon the title explains for itself. My fave movies- LOTR is a given, I feel a bit dumb even writing that, The Crow (Brandon Lee version) Plunkett and Macleane Don Juan De Marco Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Pirates of the Carribbean (it was entertaining ok?!) Donnie Brasco
....I know there were a whole lot more, but I can't think of them under this pressure. So I'll just post back here when they come to me. Ta ra.

No, my video store didn't have it in! And I was so looking forward to talking about it too. Personally I'd be well pleased to have you as a philosophy mod, hold on while I suggest it to the others...

*hauls ass over to movies topic also*
Well if we start up somewhere for philosophy, it could always fit in there alongside. Then we could have somewhere for people to talk about weird experiances or to teach people about their beliefs and ideas. Ok, so maybe teach isn't the right word, but y'all know what I mean.

I am in too much shock to try and convince you that Halloween is one of the best times of year. I seriously am in shock. I don't know what to say, it means a lot to me, and well, I em...can't believe this.

Hmm, sounds like my kinda film...Is it scary? Cause I've been asked to write a script for an idea I accidently pitched, and should really do some research...Even though it'll take me ages to get round to watching it, considering my to watch list is so long. Hmm...Halloween might be a good time to watch it...(am a Halloween fanatic) Oh, (I am a pink fairy), I can't. I'll be away jet setting to NY...It'll be my first ever missed Halloween! I should probably continue this rant in my journal huh? Ok, well, would you reccommend it for script writing research purposes? (What a lot of spraff...I may edit this post later when I read it back and blush at all this random nonsense I've written...)

As in Stephen King? I've heard of it, read a paragraph of the book, and seen the trailer. It looked kinda weird, but intriguing. Is that what you're talking about?
