I was just wondering what films people have loved as children, and then seen again a few years later and been really disappointed about. I remember loving 'CutThroat Island' when I was little, and thought Geena Davis was the bravest, wittiest, most beautiful person I'd ever seen, and I wanted to grow up to be a pirate just like her. I saw it just recently however, and my opinion was pretty much reversed. There are a few films I can't even bring myself to watch incase the same thing happens, anyone remember The Goonies? Or Dark Crystal? Legend? Laberinth? All those films I had this huge love for, but can't watch now for the fear that they really weren't as good as I thought years ago.

"Hook" with Robin Williams was one. I loved that film and it was my favourite when I was little...it's actually kind of lame.

Well, I won't talk about "good movies once, bad movies now", but I'll tell u my latest disappointment : wasn't Tomb Raider II a hoax? And the latest two Matrix. For me, this were the disappointments of the year. Really!

I know this topic hasn't been visited in a while, but i figured I'd put my opinion in on something.
Lossentilien, The Goonies is still a great movie! I watched it a few years ago for the first time, but I had forgotten everything about the movie. Then, I bought the movie and loved it! It is one of my top 5 favorite movies. I would consider watching it again. It's worth it.
I've seen Labyrinth, but I don't know...that movie was weird. I havn't seen the other two though. I just thought I'd tell you about The Goonies. It's a great movie, and it is nice to see a LOTR actor as he started out. Sean Astin is so cute in The Goonies!

One movie that was a disapppointment to me was "The Emperor's Club." Everyone said how good it was, but it had no point!

Well, I don't know how much this fits, but I've always disliked Disney's Cinderella. Everyone else, especially my young cousins, love it, and I really don't. It's just..... annoying.
As to movies that I used to love that have since disappointed me, I'm not sure I can think of any that I dislike as a whole, but once you get loder you end up noticing that a lot of kid's movies have really weird and sometimes inappropriate inserts and connotations, or else they just have bits that are really corny. I don't mean sly jokes that adults will understand, but things that only adults should understand that have no place in a kid's movie.

Argh, a lot of those Disney princesses make me so mad!!Take Cinderella for example. She is beautiful, sweet, kind, and abused. A total Mary-Sue. Never rude to her stepsisters, never has a bad hairday, aways does what she's told, loved by animals and all people except her family. *gags* One I don't mind as much is Jasmine, from Aladdin. She actually had a brain, and some bad points. That was better. They place too much emphasis on being pretty. I mean, was there ever an ugly Disney Princess? All the little girls who watch them might think that no one will love them if they're not pretty. Poor little girls. And I liked the new Peter Pan. Very, very much.

I would have to say the Never Ending Story. I loved that movie ever so much when I was little. I watched it over and over again, excited every time. I decided to watch it the other day, the 3rd one I believe, and was disappointed and confused as to why I loved it so much. One must realise that taste changes and so does technology. Our special effects are so much better today than they were ten years ago, so we expect more!
