Could we do without a car? Get some exercise into those bodies of ours… or do we need it? What do you say?

I however, think that exercise is good. Though, a car can be very useful as well.
But I think it would help if we rather chose to go by bus, or underground, or by other transports which can take many people. Simply because - it's social - it'll be better for the environment.
In many countries though, such transport is expensive, which is definitely the down-side of it. I would prefer if there were better offers, in that way maybe more would rather choose to take the bus or whatever.
As for the car.... Some people choose to spend money on fancy clothes, houses or etc. And some simply choose to spend it on fancy cars. This is a matter of what the person's priorities, and of course the living condition. Many places on this earth (heh) people are not in the need of a car.
Exercise can be done in many different ways. I don't believe car is the main factor, whether you get some exercise or not.

In our day and age, I do not think we could do very easily without the car. We have advanced so much and faster transportation is greatly needed.
Would it be better for the environment? You wouldn't have to worry about traffic jams anymore but there would be a huge number of people to ride the bus, or underground, or other transports. There would be long waits, and crowded transports that could result in epidimics.
There would have to be several more kinds of transports built to handle the heavy number of people which would involve people losing their land and homes to the government to make way for all these transports.
People would be leaving their homes earlier in order to have enough time to get to work and would be getting home later.
I do not think that it would improve socialism either. For if it's going to be so difficult to get somewhere, the traveling rate will drop drastically. Which would also be bad for tourism.
I am not saying that we could not do without it however. We would learn to adjust in time but it would change several things and would be a very hard time for the world.

From my earlier post... From Firondoiel's earlier post...The whole point is that many will go by bus! The bus takes more poeple than an ordinary car. In that way, instead of 20 people going by car, with 20 exhaust pipes (which is a damage to the nature and people,) there would be only 1! See my point? However, there is one down side, if the bus isn't 'stuffed', it won't help that much. 1-5 persons on one bus, won't really help the environment. But if it was cheaper and easier to get a hold of a bus every day, the situation could be improved. I think we have enough transport. The whole point is to have as little as possible, and 'most stuffed' as possible. Nova
