Lament of Glorfindel
Long ago in ages forgotten
There was an elf
Loyal to his people and his king
He died so others could be free
Golden haired man of the golden flower
Fought against great foe in the sack of his city
Escaped he did led my Tuor and Idril
But the creature wreathed in shadow and flame
Came upon the in the day
The others fled down the mountain
But Glorfindel held his ground
Fought with the balrog of Morgoth
And finally cast it down
But as it fell into the void
Glorfindel joined him to
For thou he killed his foe
Death came upon him to
And down into the void he fell
Many mourned his death
But they moved on after setting a stone
As a reminder for Glorfindel
And his courage and loyalty for his people
Years unnumbered later he returned
And served Elrond and did we learn
That his courage and strength never failed
Saved Frodo’s life
And Middle-Earth as well
Asfaloth brought Frodo far
And into Rivendell he came
But without Glorfindel’s help
The Nazgul would have gotten the ring
And thou Glorfindel died
His sprit was so great that because of his heart he returned again and saved the lives of so many men
