This is a topic showing every LOTR related poem that I've written. I won't be able to get all of them up right now though, for some have not been typed out yet. But I would like some criticism on them if you would just to see if I have any chance one day of being a good writer. But anyway, here they are....
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Sam’s Lament for Frodo"
It started out as an escape
There were all of us there
Four Hobbits from the Shire
We didn’t have a care
What part could we play
On this quest so grand
But the roll that we took
Some still can’t understand
They are so small
What could they do
Some people were so ignorant
But there was one who knew
She was the fair eastern maiden
Through our minds her words soared
“Even the smallest person
Can change the course of this world”
You believed her words
Her advice you took
You went out on your own
Your friends you forsook
But I knew you better
You wouldn’t leave me then
So I came along as
Your friend until the end
Our journey was long
We faced many fears
The troubled time was harder
Than the earlier years
We climbed to the top
Where dark’s rage did sing
I even thought for a second there
You weren’t going to destroy the ring
But I looked into your eyes
As it fell in the fire
I saw a joy I saw at Bag-End
The greatest joy of the Shire
We journeyed quickly back home
Many changes there were made
But with the help of fellow friends
From the dark, our home was saved
Our quiet town is still at peace
But though you’ve now gone
The memory of our journey
Will last forever on

"The War of the Ring"
Legolas and Gimli
Stood alone and not proud
For fire and blood
Was strung over the crowd
Though the looked, the site
Was unbearable to see
They saw the fear and hope
Of those trying to be free
"The was of the ring,
oh, what a day!"
Said Legolas who, now,
Alone had to stay
Gimli had run far and fast
Leaving Legolas alone
Legolas ran quick
But stopped at a stone
Hatred was seen
As he watched from above
Then from out of the mist
Sprang a small white dove
The dove spoke peace
And happiness and truth
But terror was still abroad
For his fate Legolas knew
The dove flew away
Due to his fright
As Legolas gleamed over the crowd
Stricken at the sight
His company was gone
Fighting far away
Leaving Legolas to his fate
He had to fight to stay
Though he was scared
He ran down to the war
But turned at the sound
Of a frightful roar
Legolas ran fast
With all of his might
But he had not forgotten his fate
He had to turn and fight
He fought and fought
Til none could be seen
Except for one
He looked dark and mean
He came down from the shadows
Where he had been
He stared Legolas through
Again and again
With dark red eyes he approached
At a quicker pace
Legolas did not turn
He did not move away
"Sauron," Legolas spoke
For this one he knew
"You killed many Elves.
My brothers you slew."
Legolas stepped forward
But slanted back with fear
Sauron spoke, "My words
Will be the last that you hear."
Legolas stood and faced Sauron
Dark eyes were peering toward his face
He clutched the handle of his sword
And felt the power of its embrace
Legolas swung with his sword
And shot with his bow
Though the fear in his heart
He struggled not to show
Sauron drew out his sword
Legolas tried to fight back
But he was still very weary
From the last attack
Legolas shot at his foe
But Sauron felt no pain
He threw Legolas aside
Before he could strike again
Before he could move
Sauron struck at his leg
Legolas flew back and was knocked out
As he was hit on the head
When he awoke he knew
Time had surely not passed
For he could still feel the breath
Of Sauron's dark wrath
As Sauron drew closer
Legolas saw movement in the trees
A shadow lurked and peered
As Legolas drew to his knees
He stared continuously at Sauron
With vengeance in his eyes
"Mark my words," he said
"You'll be buried before I die."
Sauron's anger grew fierce
As he lifted up his sword
Pippin screamed a loud cry
When from the shadows he ran forth
He flew and pierced Sauron
Before he could duck
But it was too late
For Legolas had already been struck
Legolas spoke sad words
As his friend stood beside on the ground
"My journey has come to an end
I will die on this ground."
Pippin wept as he spoke
His last words to his friend
"No, you can't go!
Don't leave me alone again."
"I have no choice." Legolas said
"You cannot choose your fate."
Then he spoke the words
Pippin would regretfully hate
He said, "Go now my friend
For my head feels so light."
And with that Legolas drifted
Away into the night

"The Journey"
On a quest
Hung by a string
They try their best
To destroy this thing.
More powerful than all,
Lovely to behold,
This ring is very small
A menace of old.
On through the dark
With evil near
They wait for any
Hope to appear.
Four friends they are,
Nine they become,
The Fellowship created.
The journey begun.
The road is long,
The journey cold,
But the evil helps
Their friendship to hold.
With the loss of two
The Fellowhip breaks,
And the trip to Mordor
Two Hobbits take.
With darkness ahead
And home behind
They go on to battle
Of every which kind.
The evil grows
And the terror awaits
As with a new companion
They arrive at the gates.
The ring grows heavy,
They are caught unaware,
Frodo is captured,
Leaving Sam on the stair.
With courage and bravery
Sam fights back
To rescue Frodo,
The Orcs he attack.
Frodo is safe
And the journey still goes,
The fires of Mount Doom
Are beginning to show.
As friend helps friend
Their vision grows dim,
With the weight of the ring
Frodo stands looking in.
With an unexpected visit
Frodo fights at the peak,
Gollum and his "precious"
Take the final leap.
As with the loss of a finger
Frodo looks at his friend,
The ring is now destroyed,
The journey at its end.
Joining with the other Hobbits
They head back alone
Middle-earth is saved
And so is their home.

"A Story within a Poem"
Morning comes and night fades
But the darkness never goes
For creatures young and great and old
Fight never-ending with their foes
Darkness covers the entire land
Morning light will never come
Until all join hand in hand
And bring the dawning sun
Kings and Queens and little folk
Go on with their daily lives
They know not what the darkness brings
For they are blinded in their eyes
All creatures great and small
Will fight ‘til morning’s near
For they are ignorant of their ways
And captivity is all they fear
People are happy, yet some still sad
For a battle has been won
But even though the battle’s over
The war has just begun
Heroes fight on, and many fall
A victory approaches near
The sorrow of death consumes the land
Darkness they no longer fear
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, that's all for now. I'll have a few others up as soon as I get them typed. Please comment on them though, and don't be afraid to tell the truth about them. I'd like to know if I'm horrible at writing. Lol. Thanks for taking the time to read them!
