A- They live in dark, damp old holes when there's perfectly good scenery above ground. I mean, you don't see the elves digging holes in the ground, and they're doing just fine for themselves.

A- Because Denethor used to have 6 sons and they each had their own level. But since Boromir was his favorite son he sent the others on impossible missions where they all, save Faramir, died.
