Interesting thread. I've been reading the books again so I have all this fresh in my mind.
Hobbit because I love food, and peace, and rest, and also because I love to stroll about barefoot in the grass.
Dwarf (of the Northern variety) because they did business with men up until the war. They are shrewd, and that is admirable. They also like shiney things, and so do I. Enough said. Shiney!
Man because they are brave, and follow their heart. This is not always best (as seen by Boromir and Denethor) because it leads to corruption and hatred, and that is a nasty trait. However, they are generally good, and fight for what they believe in.
Elves because of the patience. They think everything through because they have such a long time to think about it. Because of this they see the bad and the good, and this saddens them because they are a race of caring creatures, and so they have an ever present sorrow that accompanies their glow, and this is shown by Galadriel. She knows not what will happen to the fate of ME, but she knows her own fate, and that is sad.
Also, Elves are concerned only with their own race, and I like that, because I wouldn't want to associate with stupid people either....
Ents. OMG, I just love the idea of a water diet, don't you?
Maiar. I wouldn't like this, but I would. I could live forever, choose the form I wanted, and have powers. Cool. O.o
Valar. Of course, this would be a tough task, because you created the world, and yeah... tough.
So, if I had to choose a specific race, I would choose the Elves of the Grey Havens, because I personally love the ocean, and couldn't live very long without it.
