Do you mean Pippin's son by any chance? I don't think Tolkien ever said what Merry's son's name was. I could be wrong though.

That's a very good point, now sush and answer... Unless that was meant to be a trick question because I'm not one to get Merry and Pippin muddled up... I'm deciding that it was a trick question and you answered correctly.
Firondoiel's go!

Wasn't that Marcho and Blanco Oldbuck? Or were they the two who first ventured across the Brandywine?

No, they didn't found Buckland. Aren't those the two that "discovered" the Shire?

Hello friends! Can I play?
Gorhendad Oldbuck crossed the river, built Brandy Hall, and changed his name to Brandybuck and settled down to be master of what was virtually a small independent country (Buckland).

I must be a very dedicated member to this form ;D, or a very impatient person! It would be most appreciated if some one would kindly continue this thread. Thank you! ;D

Sorry friends... for not posting a question. Even an Ent would not accuse you of hastiness. In Barrels Out of Bond who was the first dwarf to go into the barrels and who was the first dwarf to come out of the barrels? The second half is actually in A Warm Welcome. sd

Although this thread is about hobbits, seedyduncan, I will answer your question. The book does not clearly state who was the first dwarf but Thorin is the first dwarf talked about and Balin was the last dwarf that was put into a barrel. The first dwarf to come out of the barrels is Thorin.

A very grumpy Thorin might I add.
