Hi guys, I thought this was an appropriate question for our favourite paranormal friends. I read somewhere the other day that people used to believe that those who were left-handed were in fact 'mirror twins', in that they had been destined to have an identical twin, but for some reason did not, and so they used their left hand because of the absense of said twin, and in using their left hand instead of the right were mirroring the absent twin. Now I'm not exactly sure how right that is, but I reckoned that if anyone was to know, it'd one of you. So have you ever heard of anything like this? As a lefty, I find it intriguing.

This is rather odd, we had a discussion on this exact subject a few days ago at school. Lindle (a friend and student) mentioned something to what you are saying about the two mirror twins. I think what you said is basically what she said. I wonder if they meant looks, personality and life as a mirror image or just looks. Other things were brought up in our discussion such as identical twins or look a-likes. I used to have a friend Belinda, we look pretty much a like. You could tell the difference but we had the same kind of mouth, eyes, hair, shape etc… just I was a bit taller and my eyes are greener. But it is odd. Another thing I heard is that ALL of us have twins… it might not be exact looks but they like the same things, think a like and live basically the same lives and go through or have the some traumatic experiences. But of course they do look a bit a like (same features). Hey it is odd to think some one out there is lucky enough to be like me (jokes ).

This is what I have heard about mirror twins:
Mirror twins in the same family are identical twins except that one's heart is on the left side of their body and the other's is on the right. One is left handed, one is right handed, etc.
As for what Nilly said, Natalie Portman (Star Wars) and Kiera Knightley are supposed to be each other's doubles, or twins if you prefer.
Lossentilien -- what you said is very interesting...

I've read stuff like that too, but it's not quiiiiite what I'm getting at. Close, but no cigar, so to speak. But as I don't fully understand if what I'm getting at is in fact true, you'll have to bear with me. I've been researching the idea, and found the following;
"Left-handedness, in general, is more prevalent among twins. Some theorize that left-handed singletons are the survivors of what initially had been twin pregnancies. "
Meaning that they were meant to be mirror twins, but the the other twin for whatever reason died before birth or simply never came into being. I'm actually finding it really difficult to find information on this idea, as most of the info available is about alive mirror twins, and not this possibility of a single mirror twin absent of the other...

Whoo hoo ! A Kementîri chat ;D But to be back to topic - I have a twin sister myself and the fact is that she is right-handed but as far as I remember (and I really do) I used my left hand for all that I use right hand for , and all because my grandma teached that it`s not good to do things , like holding a fork , with the left hand and always put the fork in my right hand so now I`m fully right-handed . Though when I hurted my left hand in a riding accident , it felt like I have hurted my right one , for only then I noticed that I use my left hand mostly . And that`s not all of it . Me and my sister would make a perfect human , but , as told , the perfect human can not live , so we are exact opposite of each other . Like she`s naturally blonde , I`m naturally brown haired , Her eyes are blue , mine brown , I`m tall , she`s short , I have the brain and the logic , she has the emotional thinking etc etc . So we just might be very badly messed up mirror-twins . This is weird , huh ? I love this section ! Long live the Vaults !!! ;D ;D Ophe

That's kind of weird. I'm not sure I believe that, but..... This is sort of off-topic, but you identified emotion and logic as opposites, as it is very common to do. But if you're designating one person as intelligence and logic and the other as emotion and feeling, what happens if you have a very strong dose of both? *whistles* Not like I would be talking about myself or anything, no..... And I don't really believe that everyone has doubles, even though it's an interesting idea - though if it were the case, I can think of at least one person who could be considered as a candidate....

This is a section of choice - belive or not belive , none is wrong , nor can exsist one without the other . And do not forget - none of these topics have been prooved with any sorts of evidence that cannot be desputed . And a very strong dose of logic and intelligence and a strong dose of emotions and feelings eaquals a balanced thinking . Ophelia

I think I missed the point of this thread. What is so spooky at people looking almost the same? Are you trying to imply that they are from the other side of the mirror, I mean from the other realm, or what?

I really am not sure if I may answer this question Bk , for the starter of this topic is Lossie . But all I may say is - this section is for all things weird and , I mean , it is weird to walk down a street and see a persone looking just like you but which is not even related to you . Well as you wish ... Oph

Okay, so I've heard this really spooky thing and I'd like to share it. I've read that u never should sleep with your back at a mirror, because sometime in the night u might fell some cold boney arms trying to pull u on the mirror's other side. Yeah, I know, it's a bit too much even for the vaults (too crazy) but I would like to know what u think of it.

I think it's a good idea for a horror story of some kind.

I 've heard tonns of stories about mirrors and the black lady who tries to pull you to the other side of the mirror if you call her or if use the mirror unwisely Though I've never heard this one . No offence but I have slept with my back to a mirror many times and still I am here . Sheesh Ophs

ya, sheesh. I was not the one that wrote that dang theory, right? And, believe me, if u think that is silly I've heard tons of more theories that while they sound okay, I think they're just pranks. like "u'll have b luck if u see a black cat"
