Wow. =)
Well, I just dug up one of my poems somewhere... think I wrote it in October or November. Widdle bit angsty.
We can't go dancing in the rain Because they're always near, And no one hears the cries of pain Because you've closed your ears.
Too weary now to hide again, I'm full of pure, unwanted fear I'll watch my tears blend with the rain And listen to onlookers jeer.
And then it'll be your turn, with your unseeing eyes To watch me trampled under iron shoes, And cry in vain for second tries As my life forever is set loose.

Very good, Menelien, but very sad as well. I particularly like the line:
Too weary now to hide again, I'm full of pure, unwanted fear I'll watch my tears blend with the rain And listen to onlookers jeer.
So it's more than one line...good stanza. Very sad...

A little something I did on the spur of a moment -- when I was feeling particularly bad and horrid -- thinking how I didn't want to grow into my aunt.
Brine of unforgiven wrong -- can you feel it fester In the secret shrine within your heart Twisting a curious glance, a muttered word, Trying to remember words unheard, Evading the golden step of forgetting future? Rank it is with hidden hate, Nursing poison that does not abate, Erecting within the shrine delusions of a Sordid delight of your noble self Staining the spindle's thread of life. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's actually a dreadful poem as it has no rhythm, no proper rhyming scheme, etc.

I don't mind Elentari here's another one from my files: Through distant firs above me The scent of coal is caught in the drift
At dawn it sways with the cones The dew is brought to my lips
Shafts of light Filtered into crepuscules that make the twilight
And the moon is brought to me again
That is why nature is always new Recycled through many-a-poet’s gloss
And trees and forests and moons Mingle together so they become
One

Istawen -- you're so sweet! Thanks I wrote the poem quite recently a few months ago while viewing a photograph with -- yes trees and twilight.

A spur of the moment poem, that I think turned out rather well, anyhow. -Eowyn Skywalker *** Across the Seas Night falls, Now the shadow calls. Twilight; The stars shine so bright.
Ships sail, Where is it that they hail? Birds cry; In their voice is a sigh.
Why does the moon shine, Reflected on the waterline? The shores pass away, What words are left to say?
What is this path we tread? What world lies ahead? The stars are all alight, Where is the edge of night?
Moonrise, Can you hear the wind sigh? In the water, Reflects the sea’s daughter.
Why do we cross these seas? Now do I miss the hum of bees. What draw us away from land? Now we face another world’s sand.
A misty cover, See, the seagulls hover. Shadow fades, Look beyond the shade.
We have crossed these waters, A new land, for our daughters. This is what we have found. Listen, the wind’s sound.
The world lies ahead, Where have we been lead? The stars are no longer alight, We have found the edge of night. [/center]

Istawen: You can't call me young Padawan, only my master can get away with that one. However, I will respond to Padawan Tiana, if you insist on calling me that. Glad you liked it! ElbrethVarda: That was purposeful, as that was all I had to help me rhyme the song... it DOES have a tune, you know. But I meant it to be like those two songs. Elentari: Really? You're putting it on your WEBPAGE?! Wow. I guess you really did like it, and I'm glad of that. I write in the hopes that some will like what I've created... mwha-ha-ha... hey, you joined Middle-earth! Cool! At least, I think it was you... I PMed you there too, if you were wondering... -Eowyn Skywalker

Delightful, a place where I can show my poetry! I have to get this one to give to someone else anyway, so I'll post it here while I'm at it. 'Twas a little thing that came to my head, and I posted it in the White Horse at the 'Downs, but I'll post it here, as well. By the way, I'm enjoying all the other poems here as well. Out of doubt, out of dark to the day's rising The men rode forth, their song reprising Their once mild eyes with fire beaming And from their spears the sunlight gleaming.Hark how they cry out for their glory Ne'er a one felt near to sorry For their country, for their king That battle cry o'er the plains did ring.See the hope from their eyes glowing Scores of doubt they're overthrowing And their gallant hearts are beating Death they're fearlessly meeting.Hear the song they raise in granduer Death and fear they do banter They did not hesitate for a breath They fought for life and scorned death.See the shining swords unsheathing Hear their heart's beat and their breathing See their shields in morning light Shine proud their emblem, horse so white. If one does hang back in fear If to die one will not dare Let descend upon his name Contempt for fools and coward shame. On for Rohan, on for glory! Let us find a name in story! On for country, on for king! Death to every foe do bring! Then farewell to the sunshine bright And farewell to the charm of night For if in battle I do die In pride and glory, in joy fell I!No honor greater do I seek Amid death's foul and awful reek Then to die, and so to give Hope that my country might still live.Onward soldiers, stout and brave Let none of you be traitor knave We rose in battle Mordor's slaves But we go in freedom to our graves!
