Ok, so... We need to come up with some ideas for threads to open in the various sections of the forum. The threads should be something that will attract all members and that will stay fairly active. Start discussing some ideas, and when we come up with a few I'll edit this post with a list. | tari
Key: Catergory - Board --Subboard +Is not a current board = Moved from a board to subboard __________________________ General (would rename to Welcome or Mae Govannen) - Rules, Updates, Etc --Rules + --Updates + --Help + --Suggestions + Discussion - Books + --Tolkien = --NonTolkien = - Movies + --LotR = --NonLotR = -Philosophy/Theology -Paranormal Role Playing -Character Creative + --Character Creation + --Plot Discussions + - Middle Earth -- *You can expand these subboards to include all the major areas of Middle Earth. Hmm. Well the first thing I thought of was Cosplay, I highly doubt we have enough members at the moment, but maybe something to think of for the future, assuming things prosper. But it'd be something I'd like to see anyway. Stuff for now....*thinks* Y'know this is harder than I thought. Are there enough people left for an RPG? I haven't actually counted how many active members there are. Ok I'm just going to list a couple of things I'm interested in, maybe if we all write down stuff like that we'll find things in common that could be turned into threads. I've already mentioned Cosplay, but I've not actually done any yet (lack of motivation I guess) I've been working as a makeup artist over the past week, and have found it to be a lot of fun (surprisingly so) and it's become an interest. I'm taking weird creative stuff here, not day to day, but an artsy form. Different cultures are of huge interest to me. PS2 games like Final Fantasy and Project Zero (Fatal Frame in the US) I've been playing Silent Hill but it's very creepy. I'm getting back into psychology a bit, group dynamics and motivations etc. (did we have a section on dreams? A friend of mine is quite into dream analysis and how strange it is) Generally I'd quite like to open up some discussions about people here, decent ones, it's great to be able to talk to people who are different from you and to see yourself from their perspective. I don't actually get the feeling any of what I just wrote is useful in the slightest. Oh well, your turn.

I was thinking about trying to keep things LotR related, but with just 4, I think, of us active, I think having other areas of interest would help people stay active.
I could make fantasy board, so people can discuss anything fantasy, from games to books, etc.

I know thisdefinetly comes toolate but since I have been on ðo often' - Lossy Whoa, just when I was about to give up any hopes of you returning ;D Welcome back ! Moving on. About the dreams.. We had the White Rabbit thread for phylosophy and such stuff but I dare say we could put that one on the Vaults aswell , as there are not many topics anyways. Secondly, I am a very bad RPer aswell as facing problems with time so I am not going to be much of a use at that. Though because of my shortage of time I am good for nothing for the most of the forum threads. Ah well .. For the likes and loves of my currant life - horses, Remark, cooking, still Tolkien. Plus I vote for saving the game room. Pretty much all I wanted to say Ophelia

;D I love RPing, but I like to do advanced stuff, so it would take me forever to post. I don't know what cosplay is, but I have heard of it. Scary. Anyway.
I think if we cleaned up the boards a bit by adding some subboards, and maybe a few centering codes, that might help things a bit for starters. Just to clean things up and then maybe work on adding boards and stuff.

Hmmm, I forget you could do subboards on v4. Any ideas for subboards in the boards?

Just move some of the current boards into other boards that would fit better, and you have yourself a nice getup. I will look at the boards and give my advice as to what should be moved where.
First off, I would change the order of things and names, and I will show you how I see the boards in a rearrangement.
Key:
Catergory - Board --Subboard
+Is not a current board = Moved from a board to subboard
__________________________
General (would rename to Welcome or Mae Govannen) - Rules, Updates, Etc --Rules + --Updates + --Help + --Suggestions +
Discussion - Books + --Tolkien = --NonTolkien = - Movies + --LotR = --NonLotR = -Philosophy/Theology -Paranormal
Role Playing -Character Creative + --Character Creation + --Plot Discussions + - Middle Earth -- *You can expand these subboards to include all the major areas of Middle Earth.
Member Mayhem (Or Sarnford Inn, or whatever) -General Discussion --Prancing Pony = --Fables of Yore = --Imladris Parties = --Quizzes +(would eliminate movie quiz board and Tolkienite showdown) -Debates --Debate Archive = -Gallery of artwork (aka Hall of Fire) -Archives
Moderator Board -Judges and Juries Room -Concil of Elrond -Admin's Area * Note, by putting these boards into their own catergory you can choose who can see it; if you want staff to only see it, then limit it to only staff.
...
All in all, you only lose two boards, and that is because they were redundant. If you arrange the boards in the manner I did, with the welcome board first, the discussion second, the random third, and the admin board last and out of sight, then the flow of the forum will be much smoother and should attract more members. By organizing with the rules first, guests are more likely to see them and join. Also, by putting the discussions first, members should be more likely to join in on those then just play games. However, if you want people to participate in games, put the Member Mayhem board after the welcome board, the discussion board second, and Role Play board last. (It's like fung shui for the internet, and it works!)
Anyway, whether or not you do any of these things is up to you. But I know that if you change these things around, it is more likely to impress guests and attract new members, as well as please current members.

Hmmm... I like it I'll copy that on to the first post. Ok, now lets think of some threads to start on these boards. I think we could start a new Inn in the RPG thread. Everyone know what i mean? Like the Green Dragon on the barrowdowns forum

Jack, with your list of boards, I'm wondering about the rules being all on its own in the welcome section. do you think we should make that the "member mayhem" part?

Well, the rules and whatnot all need to be in one section so that guests can easily find things, and the support board and everything should be there so that they don't clog the board. They fit nicely in all the forum that I manage, so it should be fine for here too.
Also, the help board should be guest accessible, with minor moderation, (against spammers) so that people who need help and can't loggin can post. Everything else should be for members only.
You know, if you make me a temporary mod I can help you with these changes. I work at the RPGC and other layout sites so I am pretty handy with proboards, and coding, and the like, and doing this sort of thing is my bag. ;D I change my board layouts and skins at least once a month. If not, then I can direct you where to go as best I can.

I'd rather do it all myself. Its not that I don't trust you to do it ^_^; It's more that I've always been in charge of this board, and really no one else ever changed anything.
What i meant about the rules, suggestions, etc board, is that does it need an entire category to itself? I agree that it should go at the top though.

Yeah, it should stay in its own catergory. That way people who come here can see where it is quickly and know where to come back if they do come back.
;D And no worries about changing things. I just mean it would be easy for me since I do it so often.
