I'm not sure what original sin is, not being a Catholic and all. But I kind of see what she means. In the Bible is says, "Everyone who sins is a slave to sin." But then once we become a Christian, and repent, the Bible says, "You have been set free from sin..." Basically, everyone is born as a sinner. You can't change that.
Right, and every thing about "deadly sins, etc"? According to God, one sin is as bad as another. So don't worry. ;D

Sure you have a right to belive what you want. But the reason Firi and I are arguing (discussing ) is because we care about you guys. We want you to be able to see you after death; to know that you aren't lost. If what I belived was only important to me, we wouldn't be doing this.

So does atheism, without the heaven/hell.

Modern science has solved these mysteries!?! Where did you get that from? For one thing, how did we get here? How did the world come into being? Science and Christianity don't have to disagree; in a lot of places, they agree. For that, I can give you proof.
Because they aren't. At a glance, christianity seems to be about death, yes. But, a closer look shows that it's fixated on a relationship with the creator of the universe. A personal relationship of total submission and love.

I am a smart, articulate person, and I have questioned God many times. Sometimes answers don't come right away, sometimes they aren't what I want. But the more I question Him, the more He reassures me, and our relationship grows deeper.
One of the most wonderful things about God is that He never changes. Never ever. Which means He will never say that we are not worth saving. Sometimes people who say they believe in God, don't understand. That is why The Crusades and things like that happen. But it's never hopeless, because even when the world ends, and only one person is in heaven, the angels will still rejoice.

Um...If you say so, Arien...
No, actually, it doesn't. Gos says that our good works next to His are like dirty rags. We can't get into heaven of our own accord. You have to be absolutly perfect in every way to make it into heaven alone.
And about the "Chistians are forgiven sinners", I am definetly not saying I (or any christian for that matter) am better than you- in alot of ways, I bet I'm worse.

Of course christians sin. I never said that they didn't. Christians are far from perfect. And in God's, it's true, everyone is equal. All humans are sinners, and God's standard is perfection, like he is. But christians are forgiven sinners.
You make it sound as if God doesn't know what is in your heart. If someone professes to be a christian, but doesn't believe it, they are no christian. So they won't go to heaven. And no one deserves to go to heaven. Only people who are perfect can go to heaven, and absolutly no one is perfect. So, if you ask God into your heart, and you mean it, and you try to grow with his help, you'll go to heaven.
I know that the Bible is true because there is proof! They make all sorts of prophecies in it and all of them come true one way or time or another. And they aren't general prophecies like "There will be a war in the next ten years" or something like that; they are specific.
Like I've said before, God has a plan for the world, and for each of His children. Our ways are hardly ever His ways, but it comes out to being best for for His children. I'm not saying that the best is fun, often it's painful. But He does it to draw us closer to him. I have real life experiences that show that.
I'm not done, but I'll be back.

I believe that people who don't believe in God will go to Hell when they die. And, that sins are impossible to avoid - without God's help. Everyone sins; no one cannot. But if you repent and ask God for help, those sins no longer exist. God wipes your record clean when you are sincerely sorry.
Note- Although I did not put the words "I believe" at the begging of each sentence, I mean it like that. It's just too much work to type it all the time. ;D

Not if you really think about it. I was just reading a very interesting article. A man who lives in Australia found a fossil or a pleosauras, or a ocean-dwelling, air-breathing dinosaur. He called a museum and they sent a gruop of pailenentologists over to look at it. Amazingly enough, the ground was so loosely packed that they were able to uncover it completely within only 30 minutes. Upon doing so, they discovered that the fossil was almost completely whole, which was odd. If it had simply died in the ocean, it would have decomposd before it had a chance to be buried, and the bones would have been scattered. The only way the skeleton could have been almost completely whole was if it had been buried within a matter of minutes.

Tari's doing a great job of answering these questions from a very unbiased view, so I'll be a little more here... Not all "Christians" believe in the Bible-some actually think it's a bunch of myths. Some, like Tari said, believe God authore the Big Bang, or evolution, or that creation was more like seven million days, than just seven. But the Bible is very specific. It says, "There was evening, and there was morning, the (whatever number) day." To be a true Christian, you must believe the Bible, because it is the Word of God, and it is almost only through that that you can learn what you need to. That is one of the most excellent questions I've heard, and I'll answer loud and clear. NO! You can be a scientist and still be a Christian! My science book is written by a Christian and it is just amazing some of the proof he comes up with for Christianity. I can get one of those for you guys, if you like. Just and awful lot to type. ;D

Oh, I am so sorry! I totally forgot about this thread! I'll get to answering now. You mean you want to know who the Devil is? He's gots tons of names (want them?), but from what I know about the Bible, is that he was an angel, but he challenged God's authority and was thrown out of Heaven. So now he hates God and does all that he can to cause problems for us on earth. Not just the Christians, but everyone. I see Cenerue answered too. Thanks! Since Adam was the first man, and Eve was the first woman, when they sinned for the first time, God put a curse on all their descedants. Anyone can read about this in the first or second chapter of Genisis, if they so please. So, I guess that's just the way it is. And Nurumaiel, I guess it's fine if you want to help, but as I am not Catholic, I do not believe in the Catechism, much prefering to go straight to the Bible myself. But you're fine.

I made this thread a long time ago, then closed it, so I'm going to go for it again. Go ahead and ask me anything, and I'll try to answer to the best of my abilities. But then, I'm only human, so if I don't know, I'll try to find out.
