There is this book that starts with a girl who gets into a tiff with her mum. Leaving the house in a storm, the girl sees an old house with "Do not trespass" signs around the tall fence. However, she finds a loose board, and she creeps into the yard where she is surrounded by grass thigh height. She hears a light tap tap. Looking around, she sees a pond, and by the pond is a little elf making shoes. She converses with this elf and then enters the cob webbed mansion.
She nears a flight of stairs, and sees that there are seven portraits of seven sisters climbing up the wall. As the girl climbs the stairs, she stops at the beautiful portraits, admiring them.
What she doesn't know, is that the eyes of the portraits follow her as she climbs up the stairs.
The stairs lead to an attic. Within, there is a chest of jewelry, and the girl tries some of it on. She goes back down the stairs, and to the pond. Kneeling beside the shores of it, she leans over to peer at her reflection.
In a half circle behind her are reflected the seven sisters, looking most unhappy with her.
