People in a glass house shouldn't throw stones. If someone were to throw a stone in a glass house, the stone could go pass the person it may be being thrown to and break the glass, leaving them with no house...

what if this 'glass house' were under-water, meaning if someone were to throw a stone it could break the glass meaning all the water would come flooding in and the person would drown.

Also, when glass breaks, it shatters everywhere, meaning if someone were to break something within the house glass would go everywhere, causing people to possibly step on it, bleeding, yeah... ya know what it leads to...

The only way throwing a stone in a glass house would work, is if the house is huge and there is a big space and someone were to throw a short distance, but face it, who does that?

I believe that it is the person living in this house's right to decide whether to throw stones or not. If they happen to throw it through one of their walls then it is their own property that is damaged and they who will suffer the financial consequences.

If a visiter in their home were to throw a stone without their permission, then they should certainly be brought to justice, but that is a different matter.

However, I do believe that there should be a minimum of ten metres between the glass house and another piece of land, for if the glass were to smash, it should not spread to another's land.

Does that make sense?

Very interesting subject......

I don't think people who live in glass houses should throw stones. If it crashed throught the wall and hit someone outside, they could be sued. Also, the stone might do serious damage to someone elses property.

And, if the glass houser lived near a forest, the flying glass could fly in to the forest and animals could eat it or step on it or otherwise seriously injure themselves.

If those people really wanted to throw stones, they should throw them in the basement. That way, they woulldn't hit anyone or break any glass.

I'm afraid I'm a firm believer that people in glass houses should throw stones.

First of all, if someone were to throw a stone and destroy their house, I would have to say it's their own darn fault. Unless they were not capable of thinking their actions through. On the other hand, there are safety and privacy issues surrounding glass houses which would lead me to argue that a person may be better off destroying their glass house and moving into another, more practical house. And on that topic, this glass house under water would be extremly unpractical, would there be an air supply? And how would one carry out a normal life when living in an underwater glass house? Surely it would be beneficial to live in another house? And if the house was underwater, can we definatly say that throwing a stone in said house would destroy it? There could be momentum issues in water that we've not thought of. ;)

I'll admit that broken glass could be dangerous, but the sensible thing to do would be to wear shoes so as not to step on the glass. The real worry should really be- what would happen if something fell on and smashed the roof when there are people inside? Throwing a stone at a wall wouldn't nessecarily cause the glass to fall on a person, but to throw it at the ceiling would be dangerous, so it may depend on where the stone is thrown.

Our culture is partly to blame for the stigma surrounding glass houses and throwing stones. We are told from a young age that breaking things is bad, so we naturally have a curiosity. Who amoung you can say, in all honesty, that they've never felt a slight guilty, or not guilty, pleasure when they've broken a glass? There is something satisfying about hearing the noise of glass shattering, and knowing that you've been the cause of it. It's because we're told this is wrong that makes it enjoyable, in a twisted way.

And who's to say that this stone has to be large and heavy enough to shatter a glass house? It would be possible to throw small light weigh stones that would do no damage whatsoever.

It is therefor my opinion that it would be good for someone living in a glass house to throw a stone. Not just for personal reasons, but for thier own safety and privacy. How would you feel living somewhere that was see-through? People would be able to see you at all times. Unless you paid out to have curtains put over all the walls etc. But who would waste that amount of money?

Here, here Lossentilien makes excellent points! And we can not forget about the birds! Birds don’t know the difference between glass and air and glass houses would cause many bird deaths. So it would be good to throw stones at a glass house so it will break and they can move into a decent house.

And like Lossentilien said it is almost impossible to have a glass house in the sea and then again we are causing danger to our fishes so it would be better to break the house.

Also another thing about seeing people all day would mean you would see them naked which would not be good for little children, we might bring a nation of porno fans or even worse a nation with mental problems (the people in the house could be very fat, and naked fat people can be quite a shocker)

So I am for throwing stones at glass houses.

Well do not forget the well known saying "People who live in a glass house must get dressed in the basement." So I do not believe we have any fear over the porno bit.

I do not believe that peeps who live in glass houses should throw stones because it is just plain mean and they would have several enemies and that would not be a good thing. Them living in a glass house and all.

I also think that they wouldn't throw stones because if they have a glass house the must be pretty rich and have a lot of expensive stuff they want to show off. And if they threw stones they would, 1. Scare viewers away. 2. Might damage some of their expensive goodies.

I think that people who live in Glass houses can do whatever the abyss the want to do. If they want to throw a stone and break all their walls, it's their right.

I think that they just need to be prepared to face lawsuits and pay hospital bills when they either hit someone walking out on the street or end up with a glass splinter stuck in their feetses.

Ah, something about the birds thing... if you were considering the birds, it would actually be better to throw things, 'cause then the glass would all break and the birds would have nothing to fly into and kill themselves, unless the birds wanted to die... then well... let them fly into the house...

Well, if the owner of the aforementioned glass house wants to be a bird house, he/she should go right ahead and throw the stones. ???

If someone living in a glass house is worried about security, privacy, or breakability, they should consider using plexiglass, tinted glass, or shatterproof glass to rebuild their house with.

Therefore, if someone breaks their wall when praciticing putting the stone, they should have opted for shatterproof glass, and be prepared to deal with the damage.

I do, however, believe that people in non-tinted glass houses have every right to throw stones at passersby who may be invading their privacy. There are, of course, limitations on the throwing of the stone. A glass-house dweller may throw a stone at a privacy-invader if and only if said invader is between the ages of 12 and 57, does not have red hair, and is greater than 5 feet tall. The invader must also be within 50 feet of the house and looking in the direction of the house for the stone-throwing to be allowed. The stone can weigh no more than five (5) pounds, and the throw may not reach an air-speed velocity of more than 8 miles per hour. The stone-thrower must be at least 10 feet away from their wall to make the throw legal.

Those are my beliefs on the stipulations of stone-throwing. Violators should be prosecuted by the seizing of their house and subsequent mandatory removal to an under-water glass house, in which they are only allowed to throw squeaky objects.
