Proboards v.4 - New Features

Ok, I haven't quite discovered all the new features of the Proboards v.4 upgrade, but you can discuss them all. Some interesting one's I've found are:

Karma - Members can now exalt or smite other members. This is a rating system. Please don't abuse it.

Topic Bump - Topics can now be bumped to the top of the list without someone having to post. This is useful for important topics, or if you justwant someone to reply. I'm not sure if this is just a moderator feature or not.

Stopping Post Counts - I now have the ability to stop posts counting on boards. This means if I'm really mean I can make Sarn Ford Inn posts not go toward your post count. Of course I'm not evil

Quick Reply - Now when you view a topic you can reply without having to load the full reply box. This feature is found at the bottom of topics below the posts. This is useful if you don't need the coding or smiley buttons to include them.

Skins - If I ever get round to it I can make different "skins" for the fourm. This means you can pick out of a selection of different colour themes for the forum.

Spell Check - You can now spell check your posts before posting them. This is incredibly useful for RPGs (not that the RPGs are alive at the moment... Grrr)

Back Up Private Messages - I'm not sure if this feature was available before, but you can now backup your private messages if there are some you don't want to lose or if you want to clean out your inbox and keep a copy of your mail.

Profiles - Profile pages have a different layout now, showing more information abou your previous posts. It now also shows your signature.

Profile Editing - Tehre are now more options available to you when you edit your profile. One is that you can now pick your timezone, rather than before when you have to guess how many hours different your timezone was. I can also make notes about your account, so if you do anything wrong the staff members will know. You can hide your age, signature and avatar now and chose not to view images on the forum if you have a slow connection. I don't think people realised before, but I can edit things like post and karma counts, so if you misbehave these will be lowered.

Calender - If your submitted your correct dat eof birth in your profile and have not hidden your age, your birthday will automatically be displayed on it. Remember to check there so you can wish everyone happy birthday when it's their birthday day. Also, anyone can add events to the calander. However, if people misuse this privalage I will make it so only staff members can add events.

Login - The quick-login box is now located at the bottom of the main page. You can use this login to chose how long you wish to stay logged in for, including forever.

Mouse Over Boards and Topics - You may have noticed that now when you put your mouse over a board or topic it gets highlighted. Some forums did this before the upgrade using their own script, but it is now a feature of proboards.

Users Online - You can now see exactly who is online and how many staff, members or guests are online. The time when the most users were online is also shown.

Last Post - On the main page, the last post posted in each board now has a link to it. Previously this would just say who was last to post, not what the topic's name was.

Security Log - A nice feature that I can use to ban the IP address of anyone hacking into the admin area. Useful seeing as I was hacked once and had to change my password.

Bookmark - You can now bookmark your favourite threads. This will add them to your computer's Favourites category (I think it's favourites anyway...)

Search Topic - You can now search the topic you are viewing for key words. This is quicker than using the forum search feature.
